The
CLEAR Network
The City of London and its partners in The
CLEAR Network have established this website to
provide Londoners with quick and easy access to
information about the issues that impact the
environment in London. This website will be
updated as new environmental performance data
become available.
The CLEAR Network website will be improved upon
on a regular basis, with content becoming richer
all the time as new information and new
performance indicators are developed and
introduced.
The CLEAR Network reports on eight environmental
Topics of Interest:
1. Drinking Water
2. Thames River
3. Sewage Treatment
4. Solid Waste Management
5. Trees, Parks & Natural Areas
6. Urban Planning & Smart Growth
7. Air Quality & Energy Conservation
8. Transportation
Within each topic of interest, the following is
provided:
- An
explanation why this topic is of interest to
the public and where these issues come from.
- A number of
environmental performance indicators that are
easy to explain, understand and provide an
indication of whether or not the environment
is getter better, getting worse, or staying
the same.
- A section
entitled Taking Responsibility – What You
Can Do, designed specifically with
personal tips to encourage individuals,
families, employees and employers are to take
action.
- A section
entitled Shared Accountability which
highlights what others are doing including the
City of London, other levels of government,
community and business groups and groups from
outside London.
The CLEAR Network has been being designed to
provide information that everybody will
understand and relate back to their own
behaviour. Some of the performance indicators
will still be “technical” in nature, such as
levels of a particular pollutant. However, there
will be a concerted effort to make sure that
these indicators can be linked to activities
that Londoners do in their day-to-day lives.
